Animated Series “Deep Woods Lost & Found” Selected and Nominated at WorldFest-Houston 2026

The animated series Deep Woods Lost & Found has been officially selected for the 59th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, taking place from April 24 to May 3, 2026, in Houston. It was also nominated for a WorldFest Remi Award, recognizing excellence in independent storytelling.

Produced by Rymanco Films, Deep Woods Lost & Found is a 2D animated adventure series designed for children aged 6–8, planned as 52 episodes of 7 minutes each.

The series follows Hazel, a city girl who unexpectedly discovers an enchanted forest world after stumbling into an old shed. In this realm between dream and reality, she meets Grunewald, a wise wood spirit, and embarks on a magical journey. As she navigates a world without technology, she learns to follow her heart and to rely on creativity and compassion. The show invites young audiences to see getting lost as a path to finding who they truly are.

The series is spearheaded by director Jim Miller and art director Irina Golina Sagatelian, with a female-led creative team bringing international perspectives to its storytelling. The show balances heart and humor with a voice that stood out to the WorldFest committee.
"As the world continues to move forward into its cultural dependence on technology, we feel as though there is an opportunity to return to storytelling that focuses more on imagination and empathy. "Lost and Found in the Deep Woods" is a series that will explore the idea that living in the moment can be just as exciting, and perhaps even more rewarding, than being attached only to our devices and screens. Through our lead character Hazel, viewers will get to experience adventure and excitement as she traverses a new, magical realm, encountering a diverse cast of characters and situation" - Jim Millers  commented.

Founded in 1961, WorldFest-Houston is one of the longest-running independent film festivals in the world, known for championing independent voices. The selection and nomination of Deep Woods Lost & Found mark an important step in the series’ international journey.
